My kids have been LOVING these “Comprehension by Color” activities, and I love them as I know the kids are actually understanding the information!
For each of the passages, students are asked to use colors to show what they’ve understood. For example, in the “Extended School Days” packet, students are asked to do the following:
Circle in red = Unknown words
Underline in green = Suggested changes to the school day.
Underline in blue = Reasons why the school day should not be changed.
Circle in purple = Important figures
As the kids read, they have the four colored pencils out to circle and underline the important info. This keeps the kids engaged while reading, while being true text detectives!
